Watermelon Raspberry Smoothie

It’s August and that means it’s watermelon season! It also means we still have some warm days left before autumn kicks in and watermelon smoothies are the perfect way to cool off.


Watermelons are chalk full of vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and flavonoids, all helpful for detoxification. When we are detoxifying effectively, our bodies will eliminate toxins, yeast and heavy metals and neutralize free radicals. They will also eliminate excess hormones, which is important for regulating your menstrual cycle, increasing fertility and staving off perimenopause symptoms. When paired with raspberries, mint, avocado and hemp seeds, you’ll get a whole concoction of healthy fats, protein, vitamins and minerals. Perfect for supporting your hormonal system.


Here’s the recipe for my Watermelon Raspberry Smoothie:

  • 1 cup watermelon chunks
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 cup of water (or use plain cooled green tea for extra antioxidants)
  • ½ an avocado
  • 2 Tbsp. hemp seeds
  • A handful of mint leaves
  • A few ice cubes
  • 1 tsp. honey (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a blender, pour into a tall glass and enjoy! Serves 1.
