Cherry Chia Carob Pudding

There’s something about cherries and chocolate. It’s one of my favourite combinations. Along with mint and chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate…pretty much anything with chocolate.

But if you read my last recipe post, “Chocolate” Monkey Smoothie, you’ll know that I am mildly sensitive to chocolate and carob is my new substitute. So I tried it with dried tart cherries in a chia pudding and it was delicious.

Chia Pudding Ingredients

As a bonus, this pudding is super healthy and takes two minutes to make. There is no added sugar and chia seeds are a wonderful source of omega-3 fatty acids. In fact this pudding has more than a full day’s worth. Omega-3s are great for regulating your menstrual cycle, lubricating the intestines, reducing inflammation and increasing circulation. Cherries also have anti-inflammatory properties. You could try this recipe with fresh or frozen chopped sweet cherries if you like.

Chia Pudding

Here’s the recipe for Carob Cherry Chia Pudding:


  • 1/3 cup chia seeds
  • 1 ½ cups coconut beverage (or other milk of your choice)
  • 1 Tbsp. carob powder
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped dried cherries
  • extra cherries and shredded coconut for garnish


Pour all ingredients into a bowl and let sit for at least 15 minutes. Can be kept in the fridge for a couple of days (add a bit more milk if it gets too thick).

Serve 2 for breakfast, dessert or a snack.
